Do Ho SuhSouth Korean, born 1962

Do-Ho Suh was born in Seoul, Korea in 1962. After earning his BFA and MFA in Oriental Painting from Seoul National University, and fulfilling his term of mandatory service in the South Korean military, Suh relocated to the United States to continue his studies at the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI (BFA Painting, 1994) and Yale University School of Art, New Haven, CT (MFA Sculpture, 1997). Since the late nineties, his work has been exhibited extensively across the United States, Europe and Asia. It has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Sun Gallery, Sun Art Center, Seoul (2006); The Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2005); the Sackler Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. (2003); the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, Missouri (2002); the Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, Washington (2002); the Whitney Museum of American Art at Philip Morris, New York (2001); and the NTT Intercommunication Center, Tokyo (2000). Suh represented Korea at the 49th Venice Biennale (2001). His work is represented in numerous museum collections including the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Suh divides his time between New York City and Seoul, and is represented by Lehmann Maupin Gallery, New York.
